Mayor to Make Hotel Recommendation to Commission Next Wednesday

By: Michael C. Fehn
Updated: January 17, 2013
After more than a year of talking and planning, it would seem a decision is near on a new convention hotel for downtown Evansville.

Mayor Lloyd Winnecke says he will make a presentation regarding the project to the Redevelopment Commission on Wednesday, January 23rd.  He is also expected to make a recommendation as to the developer of the project.

Earlier this week, Winnecke met with most members of the Evansville City Council to bring them up to speed on the project.  Mayor Winnecke says the new hotel will create not only construction jobs on the short term, but also long-term jobs at the hotel.
