Evansville Police say they elieve the shooting stemmed from a dispute between members of the L.A. Zombies street gang and another group of individuals, but neither of the shooting victims are being cooperative and both have declined prosecution. An 18-year-old man was shot in the thigh while another 20 year old man was shot just above his ankle.
Evansville Police also say despite the lack of cooperation from the victims, anyone who fired a shot in the incident will face criminal recklessness charges.
PREVIOUS: Evansville Police have responded to a reported shooting which injured two people near the intersection of Vann and Covert Avenues. It happened around one o'clock Sunday morning.
Evansville Police have blocked Vann Avenue north of Covert while they continue their investigation. Investigators say the two people wounded in the shooting are at St. Mary's Hospital. The two victims, both males, suffered what's believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
Witnesses say immediately after the shooting, a large group of people ran into a home in the 1500 block of Vann. Evansville Police have detained 9 people but so far no arrests have been made. However, police did find a weapon. Investigators say it will be a long night as they interview witnesses. Our crews report police detained numerous people that were in a house on Vann Avenue.
This is a developing story, we'll have much more as it becomes available
