According to the American Academy of Family Physicians, up to 20 percent of Americans experience some form of the "winter blues." Researchers have even devised a mathematical formula to calculate the most depressing day of the year by taking into account variables like weather conditions, debt level and seasonal motivational levels, which almost always falls in late January.
In addition to seasonal factors, common daily frustrations can often make the difference between a cheerful day and a challenging one. Florida Orange Juice recently performed a social media scan that examined these pesky problems in search of America's "Top 10 Annoyances." Significant findings included:
Typos, spelling errors and/or bad grammar in text messages and email correspondence
Being around loud chewers/breathers
Getting stuck in traffic or behind slow/bad drivers
Encountering rude and disrespectful people
Cell phone batteries dying
Leading happiness expert Lisa Cypers Kamen shares some mood boosting tips that replenish the body and lift the spirits during these lackluster winter months.
