breaking news
Hundreds of downed trees, power lines and several homes are far from normal but that's what you will see in parts of Muhlenberg County. Officials say Highway 973 was the site of alot of destruction, in particular homes on Innview Lane near Benton. Amos and Martha Jenkins were home as their roof was torn off around two a.m. "He said the roof is gone and I thought just the shingles and I thought just a little bit, I had no idea it would look nothing like this" says Martha. Majority of their house is destroyed, precious pieces left shattered. Amos says "Everything you got is ruined and its a little late in life to be starting over." Across the street, Sandy and Daniel Blackford say they're thankful, "We're fortunate, very fortunate we feel blessed because you look at their house, it could've easily been us also." But neighbors say the outcome could've been worse. "Lost alot of things that we've had that you won't ever regain but we're so happy we lived through it, the dog lived through it," the Jenkins tell Eyewitness News. No injuries have been reported. The Jenkins family says their home is beyond repair and will have to look for a new place to live. For now they will stay at a nearby hotel.
