(Chicago, IL) -- U.S. researchers say women who took a commonly prescribed hormone replacement therapy pill had double the risk of developing benign proliferate breast disease, which may raise the risk of breast cancer. The study seeks to clarify what risks might result from taking hormone replacement therapy to treat menopause symptons. Researchers looked at nearly eleven-thousand women past menopause who had taken part in a study known as the Womens Health Initiative. The study is published in its entirety in the "Journal of the National Cancer Institute." (Copyright 2008 by Newsroom Solutions)
