An Owensboro community center is now the place to be for the area's non-profit community. Kentucky State Representative Tommy Thompson cuts the ribbon for the Logsdon Community Center.

This new center will provide office and meeting space as well as administrative and program support to established community groups and start-ups that need extra help. It will also provide opportunities for the groups to work together and learn from one another. One of those groups is the working hand, a new organization that helps the working poor.

"They are working off their kitchen table," said Logsdon Coordinator Dawn Phillips. "They need to be organized and have a place to go to do that. We need to help them to complete their mission and move out on their own."

The new Logsdon Community Center sits on Friendship Dr. off Byers Ave. in Owensboro.
