Henderson Officials Say Cellphones Cutting Back Payments for 911 Center

Without as many landline phones these days, we've reported on several communities that struggle to cover the cost the emergency dispatch centers. The city of Henderson is now considering adding a charge on your water bill instead of your phone bill. Mayor Steve Austin made that recommendation this week, and says doing so would mean each resident would pay an equal share for the service. Right now, the center gets $250 a month from landline phones and just 40 cents for cell phones.
