A Tri-State man  goes above and beyond to raise money for a popular charity event. This isKeith Shelton taking the Polar Plunge in Boonville last year. It is not an easy committment in the month of February. Scales Lake is pretty cold this time of year.

But turnout is great every year, and Shelton has taken things to another level. Each person who participates must raise at least $75 for the Special Olympics. Shelton has raised already $30,000.

"We started, and I realized when I took that first donation, I was set," said Shelton. "I couldn't back out. A thousand dollars went and came quick."

The Polar Plunge in Boonville is this Saturday at Scales Lake.     Registration is at 11 a.m., and the big plunge is at 12:30 p.m.
