President Clinton Stumps for Hillary in Boonville, Jasper, Vincennes

Former President Bill Clinton spoke for almost an hour at Boonville High Schools gym, the first of three campaign stops Thursday as he stumps for his wife Hillary in her bid to become the Democratic Nominee for the 2008 presidential election. Political experts are now looking at Indiana, which holds its primary May 6, as possibly the most pivotal contest of the year. Pennsylvania holds its primary April 22, and while there are more delegates at stake that day, the total tally of delegates awarded to the winner in Indiana may propel Illinois Senator Barack Obama to victory based on where the delegate count between the two sits right now. If Hillary Clinton wins Indiana, it could be the Kentucky and West Virginia primaries that decide. That may be why the Clinton team has dispatched the former president to stump for Hillary in southwest Indiana. Bill Clinton spoke in a casual tone, using simple stories to explain complex issues like the current mortgage crisis, and the US trade deficit. Supporters frequently cheered as he laid out Hillarys plans to boost the economy, create jobs and energy independence, and make college more affordable through grants, tax credits and restructured education loans. There were undecideds in the crowd, especially among the Boonville High School students who will be voting for the first time this year. While those who spoke to Fox 7 agreed that Bill Clinton was a charismatic speaker, they said they werent completely persuaded to vote for his wife by the visit alone. They said it made them anxious to see other candidates up close, and hear their campaigns in person.
