Apparently, pension reform legislation that passed the Kentucky Senate last week isn't quite good enough for the House. The version that cleared the Republican-controlled Senate requires the state to make its full contribution to the pension system but doesn't identify a funding source to do that. House Speaker Greg Stumbo says the Democratic-led House wants a designated funding source. The Senate bill would also create a 401k hybrid retirement plan that some house lawmakers do not want. Lawmakers have 20 working days left in the legislative session to pass a pension bill.
