The Evansville Police Department continues to work on building a better relationship with the community. This is the first year for the department's new program, "Coffee with a Cop". The monthly meetings take place at various Donut Bank locations.

Today, they met at the St. Joseph's Ave. restaurant. Residents at today's event say the coffee shop is a much more comfotable atmosphere than downtown headquarters.

"Anybody that has any questions to the police," said Donut Bank Owner Joe Kempf, "it gives them an opportunity toactually come down here and addres it."

"It adds a humanity to them," said Jacob Wittman, "that I think is necessary, and it also provides some sort of transparency between local government and the population."

The next meeting is March 18, at the Donut Bank on Green River Rd.
