Illinois Governor Pat Quinn wants to maintain the strongest
environmental protections possible, while creating hyrdaulic fracking in
the southern part of the state. A new bill introduced in the House today
would create a regulatory framework for fracking. Quinn says the
legislation has the potential to bring thousands of jobs to southern
Illinois and create economic growth. Fracking is when hydraulic machines
fracture rock layers in the ground to extract natural gas.
