Kentucky Looking Towards Lottery to Solve Pension Issues

Kentucky lawmakers are hoping the lottery will bring in the winning numbers for the financially troubled pension system. The House chairman that oversees pensions says this would include a six percent tax on lottery sales and new games. The tax could generate $49 million a year and more than $70 million from the new games. Other proposals to hike the state's cigarette tax and expand gaming machines to all Kentucky horse racing tracks have not garnered enough support.
