One tri-state mother says she's struggling to live, as a single parent with a handful of medical problems and weighing in at more than 400 pounds. High on her list of problems, Congestive Heart Failure. February is American Heart Health Month. Diamond Carroll's two kids are all she has, "Outside of what I go through, that's what keeps me happy." But what she also has are gall-stones, Congestive Heart Failure, blood clots and many other health issues. She tells us, "I can be dead, but that's not what I'm looking forward to, I'm looking forward to seeing my kids walk down their graduation aisle because I didn't." Carroll is in and out of hospitals all the time, and often heads to Indianapolis for her medical needs, transportation can be difficult and what insurance offers isn't enough. "A Medicaid Cab is a Medicaid Cab, but the way its supposed to be with a medical equipment vehicle" she says. Healthy and thin as a child, what she needs she says, is a better vehicle that handle her oxygen, which she's hooked up to 24-7, adding "I don't work and financially everybody can use a little financial help from here and there just to make things easier until things get better." Carroll is a fighter, but fears her time may be ticking. "Going to sleep is what I'm scared of, I mean everybody got to die one day but like I said, my kids don't deserve to be left on this Earth without their mother." These are the tears of an exhausted mom and hospital patient Carroll says "My heart being as weak as it is, nine times out of ten, all they're rooting for is the weight to come off, but that's all I want too." Hoping for answered prayers and medical results, "How one doctor is capable of saying yep..that's what it is...where's the other doctor that can say well let's fix it."Carroll is supposed to have another heart surgery this week in Indianapolis but again she's in need of help for better and more secure transportation, she's asking for donations, if you can help give Ann Collier a call at 812-774-1314 or Diane Brown at Brown's Elite Hair Salon 812-423-8171.
