This morning police rush to Evansville Day School after a gun is reported inside the school. Within thirty minutes a robbery alarm sounds at Fifth Third Bank on Weinbach. Right now E.P.D. is treating the two incidents separately. We begin with what police know about the gun threat at Evansville Day School. Officials lifted today's lock-down after no weapon was found and all students had been accounted for. School officials say both E.P.D. and Day School handled today's incident well and students should feel safe when coming to school tomorrow, but emotions were high as parents saw their kids for the first time after the gun threat. Emotions were at a high as worried parents wait tot see their children for the first time following the threat at Day School. Around ten this morning E.P.D. responded to a call from the school's secretary saying she received a phone call from unidentified person saying a gun was possibly inside the school. "Fortunately, we were unable to locate anybody in the school with the weapon. There was no shots fired, nobody was injured inside the school, and at this point we've released the school, and our officers are going available," says Sergeant Jason Cullum. He believes both the school and officials handled the incident well, but the safety of the children hit home to many involved today. "Almost all of our officers are parents. We have kids that are in school today somewhere. What would we be thinking as a parent and how would we want this to be handled," says Cullum. Lori Shockley has two children who attend Day School. She says the news of a gun possibly in her child's school hit her hard. "I had a panic attack, couldn't drive, couldn't breathe. It's the worst feeling you can ever have. I'm just glad there wasn't a gun in the school." Again no weapon was ever found and no one was hurt. EPD is now investigating why the 911 call was made to Day School. We will continue to update you on this story as we find out more.
