Adam Bauman, 34, was arrested and charged with eight counts of theft this week. He's accused of stealing nearly $6,000 from the Mount Vernon Youth Baseball program from February to August, 2012. Posey County prosecutors say Bauman took the money and spent it on personal items, including baseball tickets.
"There were tickets to a Cardinals baseball game. There was a baseball glove you would think would be part of the property used for the league, but it was not used for the league," says Jonathan Parkhurst, Posey County Chief Deputy Prosecutor.
The Youth Baseball Board fired Bauman last August after an employee discovered the program's bank account only had $45 left. Bauman was hired as treasurer in October, 2011.
