Legislation signed into law Monday will crack down on sex abusers in Kentucky.
It will make virtually all types of sexual offenses against children felonies.
It allows charges to be filed in first-degree child sex abuse cases where children 16 years old and younger are involved.
Thats up from the current 12 year old requirement.
If the abuser is in a position of authority, such as a teacher or clergy member, the age of the victim would be increased to 18.
The law also allows up to five years after the last abuse incident for charges to be filed.
