A woman admits she ripped off an Evansville charity for more than
$280,000. Susan Hilgeman pleaded guilty to one count of forgery and one
count of conspiracy to commit theft. She will be sentenced April 24.
Prosecutors claim Hilgeman and her mom, Marilee Garrison, were
treasurers for the Eastern Star Organization and that they stole the
money over several years. Much of the money came from Daisy Hardy. Hardy
died when her home on Lincoln Ave. exploded in 2004. She left about
$200,000 to the organization. Garrison's trial is set for July.
