Kentucky House Committee Votes to Legalize Industrial Hemp

A House committee clears a proposal that could open the door to industrial hemp farming in Kentucky. The legislation is intended to put Kentucky in position to quickly license hemp growers if the federal government lifts restrictions on growing it. The bill has passed the Senate, but House Speaker Greg Stumbo opposes the bill and doesn't know if it will be called for a floor vote. Law enforcement agencies are concerned hemp fields will be used to hide marijuana, which has identical leaves.
