Owensboro Police have a new car to draw kids to the D.A.R.E. program. The 2006 Ponitac GTO was siezed in a drug bust. The dealer was trying to sell meth. He went to prison, and police got to keep the car. So they took donations and a local artist's inspiration to make it into something kids will come to see and hopefully draw people to talk to officers.

"We're just hoping to break down those barriers sometimes that people see us in a negative way," said OPD Officer Sean Schlachter. "Kids thinking we're going to get them in trouble or we're the bad guys. But they find we're just like anybody else."

The new car will go from school to school with the D.A.R.E. program and is also available to visit community events.
