Local Hositals Lifting Visitation Restrictions

By: Michael C. Fehn
Updated: March 13, 2013
With flu season winding down, and a decline in cases around Evansville, and across Indiana, local hospitals are lifting visitation restrictions.

The restrictions at Deaconess and St. Mary's were put into place in January, in an effort to protect patients, families and hospital staff members.  At that time, restrictions were placed on visitors under the age of 15, and any visitors beyond immediate family, partner, or significant other.

Both hospitals say despite returning visitation rules back to normal, they continue to keep an eye on local flu activity, and are asking anyone with flu-like symptoms to avoid visiting patients until those symptoms have diminished.  Symptoms include:
  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Fever
  • Chills
  • Aches
  • Runny or stuffy nose
  • Vomiting or diarrhea
