An exciting week for Union County Catholics, who not only welcome a new Pope with the rest of the world, but break ground today for a new school. St. Ann Parish in Morganfield is building Pope John Paul II Catholic School after Pope Benedict's predecessor. It will replace the city's existing Catholic school.

Bishop William Medley of the Owensboro Diocese lead today's ceremony. The new school will offer faith and education for pre-schooler to 8th grade.

"They see that their parents and their grandparents," said Bishop Medley, "and this whole community are investing in them. Investing in them so they are good God loving Christian boys and girls and grow up to be Christian men and women and that the church will continue to flourish."

The school has yet to pick a contractor but hopes to open its doors in the Fall of 2015.
