Another wave of disaster hits the Carnival Cruise line this week. Over four thousand people aboard the cruise ship, Dream, now fly home after a generator problem. Thursday the Carnival, Legend, suffered technical problems making this the fourth ship to end a voyage in chaos. What are people saying about all this drama on the high seas? Marilyn Kirtley says her life really began when she was forty, when her kids went off to college and she started traveling. After that first vacation she was hooked. Today Kirtley tells me nothing will stand in the way of boarding a Carnival Cruise ship for her next adventure this October.

"No we are not planning on canceling. We are going to go." At eighty seven years old Marilyn Kirtley says she's traveled the world, and has no plans of stopping now. "I've been to Europe ten times. I've been to South America. I've been to africa. I've been to all of the Caribbean Islands. I've been to all the states, every state in the Union," says Kirtley. The Carnival Cruise line experienced yet another wave of problems this week, adding to long list of recent disaster. But, when you ask this travel fanatic if all the news has her worried, she says no. "I'm not nervous at all. I'm going, and expect to have a good time, and expect Carnival to take care of me." Fires, generators, and technical issues will not stand in the way of her plans. "After I heard of all these disasters on the sea, I thought I take things pretty good. I've traveled a lot and really never had any bad experiences, but if I do, I take them the best I can," says Kirtley. With this being her eighth cruise, maybe it's experience that helps drown any nerves of saying 'bon voyage.' "They don't want it to happen anymore than you want it to happen. If it does happen, you just make the best of it." She's not worried her ship could be next, but if it does, she has a simple phrase to help. "The saying on my dresser says, if life gives you waves, learn to surf."

Pat Duckworld, manager of Total Travel says she's had no cancelations yet. She says, however, several people are calling with concern on whether to back out of their Carnival Cruise. She says the bottom line is that many can not afford to cancel because they will not get a full refund through the cruise line.
