The fate of the Owensboro Airport tower could be determined by Friday. That's when the FAA is expected to release its list of towers that will close later this year. Airport Director Bob Whitmer says commercial flights shouldn't be affected. But the potential tower closing could make it tough to bring new business in.

"I think from an economic development standpoint," said Whitmer, "the airport may not be attractive for those looking to have an air maintenance facility  for someone that's flying in and out."

An amendment was introduced in the Senate that would keep all towers open, but Senate leadership stopped the bill from coming to a vote.
