Airport Takes Precautions After This Mornings Earthquake
(Indianapolis) -- Indianapolis International Airport operations and other personnel took a number of precautionary measures this morning when an earthquake rumbled through the state.
Airport personnel were dispatched to inspect all airport buildings, runways, taxiways, aprons, and roadways beginning about 5:45 a.m.
At 5:56 a.m. all departures were delayed until the runways were inspected for damage.
There were a total of seven outbound flights that were delayed an average of 15 minutes.
Three inbound flights were also delayed and went into a holding pattern until landing concrete was inspected for damage.
The airports crosswing runway was open and under control by FAA tower personnel at 6:27 a.m.
The two parallel runways opened for arrivals at 6:33 a.m.
Other airfield ground movement, including take-offs for departing aircraft, returned to normal at 6:44 a.m.
All the inspections have been completed and they have concluded that the airport suffered no damage.
