Robert Smith said, "Mark my words, theres going to be an earthquake." That was just 12 hours before the quake struck. It started when his neighbor, Susan Taylor, noticed her garage door opener and key pad werent working. Smith says his werent either, nor was the keyless entry to his vehicle. Smiths no expert, but he does do some reading, and his girlfriend is a student majoring in Geography/Geology. He remembers hearing information regarding earthquakes, seismic activity and frequency waves. When he put it all together, he predicted an earthquake. Experts we spoke with say theres no connection they know of between magnetic fields and earthquakes, but the Japanese and Chinese are conducting thorough research to find out how to predict an earthquake. Smith says, although he got it right this time, they shouldnt take any advice from him-- he "just got lucky."
