Carlisle Woman and Lawrenceville, IL, Man Arrested Last night, April 20th,
Marion Police in Illinois arrested Kelly Allen, 29, of Carlisle and Roger Shoulders, Jr, 37, of Lawrenceville, IL, after an Indiana State Police investigation revealed they left the scene of a crash that seriously injured Codie Pusey, 5, of Carlisle, on April 8th. Indiana State Police initiated an investigation after Pusey was struck by a red passenger car while he and several other children were playing near the road on C.R. 1125 South just west of C.R. 350 West in southern Sullivan County. The driver failed to stop. Pusey was rushed to Sullivan County Community Hospital where he was stabilized and later airlifted to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Early Sunday morning, April 20th, Indiana State Police received a tip that the vehicle that struck Pusey was parked behind the fire station in Lawrenceville, IL. Lawrenceville Police responded and located a red 1995 Plymouth Neon with front end damage behind the fire department. The vehicle was recovered and taken to the Indiana State Police Post in Evansville to be examined by crime scene investigators. Further investigation revealed that on the night of April 8th, Allen was driving the vehicle and Shoulders was a front seat passenger when Pusey was struck. The investigation also revealed that Allen and Shoulders were staying in a motel in Marion, IL. Indiana State Police Detective Tom Hanks was able to obtain arrest warrants for Allen and Shoulders.
