Evansville Names New Parks Director

Evansville has a new Parks Department director. Dan Schall was named to the position. He has been the deputy director since 2002. Prior to that, he was the director of the Mt. Vernon Parks Department. Schall was also an assistant football coach at the University of Evansville and he was a member of the Evansville Vipers semi-pro football team. He replaces Gail Riecken who stepped down last year. Below is the news release from the city of Evansville. News Release: From: City of Evansville New Executive Director of Parks Department Named (EVANSVILLE, IN)- Mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel announced today that Daniel Schall has been appointed the new Executive Director of the Parks and Recreation Department. “Through Dan’s steady leadership, our parks will be managed and operated efficiently,” said Mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel. “Dan has made great contributions as the Deputy Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation, plus he’s an athlete and a coach. It is this experience that will help enhance and grow our Parks Department.” Schall began his employment with the City of Evansville as the Deputy Director of the Parks Department in January 2002. Prior to his work in Evansville, Schall served as Director of Parks and Recreation and Sports Director for the City of Mount Vernon, Indiana. He also spent a year as Assistant Defensive Football Coach at the University of Evansville following his graduation in 1990 with a degree in sports studies. Schall is very active in sports in the community. He has served as a coach for boys and girls soccer, and for youth football. Schall was also a member of the Evansville Vipers semi-professional football team from 2000 to 2003.
