US & World Summary --- Clinton Claims Victory In Pennsylvania Primary New York Senator Hillary Clinton has beaten Barack Obama in Pennsylvanias Democratic presidential primary. As expected, Clinton kept her campaign afloat with the win and says that the tide is turning against the Illinois Senator. Speaking to supporters in Philadelphia, Clinton said she took Pennsylvania despite being massively outspent by Obama. Despite the win, the former First Lady still trails Obama in delegates. The candidates now turn their attention to May 6th primaries in Indiana and North Carolina. --- DNA Samples Taken From FLDS Kids, Parents (San Angelo, TX) -- About 100 FLDS children are in temporary foster care after being removed earlier this month from a west Texas religious compound. The Texas Attorney Generals Office continues to take DNA samples from hundreds of children and their parents who were forcibly removed the polygamist compound in Eldorado. Last Friday, a judge ordered that the children remain in state custody and that maternity and paternity testing be performed. --- Police Continue Search For Bank Shooting Suspects (Indianapolis, IN) -- Indianapolis police continue searching for suspects in yesterdays shooting of a pregnant teller during a bank robbery. Thirty-year-old Katherine Sheffield is pregnant with twins. According to a police report, a masked man jumped over the counter and shot Sheffield in the abdomen. The robber grabbed some cash and fired a second shot on the way out of the bank. Two teenagers were questioned yesterday afternoon, but no arrests have been made and no charges filed. --- Governors Ask Congress To Extend Operation Jump Start (Phoenix, AZ) -- Three southwestern governors want the federal government to extend and fully fund Operation Jump Start. The Governors of Arizona, California and New Mexico have sent a letter to Congress asking them to continue the deployment of National Guard troops along the U.S.-Mexico border. The Operation Jump Start mission involves border security enforcement and the construction of a border fence. In sending their message to Congress, Governors Janet Napolitano, Arnold Schwarzenneger and Bill Richardson stressed that Operation Jump Start shouldnt take the place of comprehensive immigration reform. --- South Carolina Church Removes Controversial Obama Sign (Jonesville, SC) -- A Jonesville, South Carolina church has removed a controversial sign linking Barack Obama with Osama bin Laden. The sign message that sparked an overwhelming public outcry, read, quote, "Obama Osama...hmm are they brothers?" It was taken down from in front of the Jonesville Church of God yesterday. Pastor Roger Byrd insisted the sign was not racist or political, but was simply meant to question whether the Illinois Senator recognizes Christ. --- Mysterious Lights In Phoenix Were Man-Made (Phoenix, AZ) -- It apparently wasnt a "close encounter" in the Phoenix skies on Monday night, but something of earthly origin. The "Arizona Republic" reports that a 44-year-old Phoenix resident says he saw his neighbor launch several helium balloons with flares attached to them shortly before some mysterious lights appeared in the skies. A Phoenix police department helicopter pilot confirmed that they appeared to be flares hanging from helium balloons. Its not the first time mysterious lights have been seen over Phoenix. On March 13, 1997, thousands of residents reported seeing a mile-wide, v-shaped formation of lights that lasted for three hours. --- Flyers, Sharks Advance To Semifinals Two teams have punched their ticket to the conference semifinals in the National Hockey League playoffs with Game Seven wins last night. The Philadelphia Flyers won their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series with the Washington Capitals, while the San Jose Sharks took care of the Calgary Flames to advance in the West. Jeremy Roenick scored the tying and go-ahead goals as the Sharks eliminated the Flames with a 5-3 win, while the Flyers finally put away the Capitals with a 3-2 overtime victory.
