Woman Dead, Man Arrested in Madisonville Accident

A Madisonville woman is dead after losing control of her car on her way home from work. Cathy Simms was driving south on the Breathitt Parkway when she swerved to avoid a stopped vehicle. Thats when Simms entered the north bound lane of traffic, hit a guardrail and was pronounced dead on the scene. Her passenger, Linda Jones, was treated for injuries but has already been released from the hospital. The man operating the stopped vehicle was Mark Thomas of Slaughters, Kentucky. He was found unresponsive in the driver’s seat. Thomas is behind bars and charged with driving under the influence and driving without insurance.
