Schools use motivational speakers as a way to uplift and encourage students. One celebrity motivational speaker made a stop in Evansville today. Retro Bill describes himself as a modern day Mr. Rogers. He earns his living speaking to kids about the finer things in life. "Respect your country, respect each other, respect your teachers and parents, doing the right thing, doing your homework, never quitting, staying away from drugs, staying out of gangs."
Although bill's list might seem long, his energetic and enthusiastic approach to motivational speaking keeps kids on the edge of their seats. And that was certainly the case with Evansville students who had the chance to listen to Bill's unconventional approach about conventional topics. "It was really fun because he used all of the D.A.R.E items and he made them really fun so we'd remember it."
Bill has been an anti-drug spokesman for ten years, and he incorporates the D.A.R.E message into every presentation.
"I think it's more important than ever that we provide prevention in a positive capacity." Bill's message to the students mimics that of the Vanderburgh County Sheriffs Office. Vanderburgh county's D.A.R.E officer says he is glad there are people out there able to spread a positive message to kids, like the message the deputies have been preaching. "He helps reinforce the message that we bring to each and every child."
