New Principal at Reitz Memorial

News Release: From: Office of the Evansville Catholic Interparochial High Schools (Evansville, IN) Today, the Board of Trustees of the Evansville Catholic Interparochial High Schools announced that Gwendolyn C. Godsey has been named principal of Reitz Memorial High School. The Search Committee of the Board conducted a nation-wide search for the principal position, reviewed numerous applications and conducted extensive interviews. The committee concluded and the Board concurred that Ms. Godsey possesses the knowledge and skills to advance an excellent academic program to even higher levels, while continuing to provide students with diverse backgrounds and talents, the opportunity to excel in a safe faith based secondary educational institution with a full slate of athletic and extracurricular activities. At the same time, her many years of experience as an elementary teacher, assistant principal and principal in Union County School Corporation near Charlotte, North Carolina prepares her well to work in the Evansville Catholic High School organizational structure and with the many stakeholders of Memorial High School. At a meeting preceding the press conference, Ms. Godsey was introduced to the faculty of Memorial by Gerry Adams, the retiring Memorial Principal. Ms. Godsey and Mr. Adams are developing a transition plan to ensure the transparent change in the leadership at Memorial High School. Ms. Godsey is a native of Posey County, Indiana. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Southern Indiana and a Masters of Education from Winthrop University in South Carolina where she focused her studies on Education Leadership and K through 12 curriculums. Ms. Godsey has also served as a varsity volleyball coach at North Posey High School. Ms. Godsey and her family reside in Evansville and attend Holy Redeemer parish. Since her families recent return to the local area from North Carolina, Ms. Godsey has been teaching 5th grade at Harper School. We are extremely pleased that Ms. Godsey has agreed to accept this position and focus her energy and talent on the continuous improvement of Memorial High School as a high quality institution of secondary education in the tradition of the Catholic ministry. The Board of Trustees wishes to thank the search committee for the many hours they have dedicated to reviewing applications and conducting interviews.
