News Release: From: Downtown Evansville Fabulous First Fridays Summer-long Series Set to Launch Friday, May 2 Lunch in the Park and Downtown Cruise-Ins part of growing festivities EVANSVILLE, IN., April 30, 2008 - Downtown Evansville will be buzzing with excitement this Friday, May 2nd as a number of events are set to kick-off the ‘Fabulous First Fridays’ summer-long monthly series. From May through September on the first Friday of each month the Fabulous First Fridays will feature a brown bag lunch in the park music series, the D-Patrick Ford Downtown Cruise-ins, and much more. This summer series provides a great opportunity for the community to rediscover the charm of Downtown. Fabulous First Friday dates are May 2, June 6, July 11, August 1 and September 5. Ø Lunch in the Park When: Friday- May 2nd from 11:00am - 1:30pm Where: ONB Park on the corner of Fourth and Main Street Admission: Free With artistic performers located throughout Main Street and live music in the park, the atmosphere promises to be lively Downtown during the Fabulous First Fridays new lunch in the park series. Business workers, residents, and visitors alike will have the chance to hear live music during lunch time from a variety of musicians throughout the summer. Guests can grab a brown bag lunch from one of the downtown merchants before heading to the park where a number of tables will be set up. Byron Rohrig kicks off the first lunch in the park series on May 2nd and will play a set that will include original music in the style of John Prine, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, and others. In addition, USI student Casey Williams will be playing acoustic guitar in front of storefronts on Main Street as part of the festivities. Ø D-Patrick Ford Downtown Cruise-Ins When: Friday- May 2nd from 5:00am - 9:00pm Where: Main Street (Registration at Main & Sixth Street) Admission: Free Over 225 classic and show cars will be showcased each month along Main Street during the summer-long downtown cruise-in series. Each month, registration will begin at 5pm on the corner of Main & Sixth and there will be free commemorative dash plaques for all cars who sign up. Regent Communications, the official radio partner of the Fabulous First Fridays series, will be broadcasting live throughout the night.
