Poll: Majority Think U.S. Is In Recession, Great Concern For Gas Prices
(New York, NY) -- A new poll indicates a majority Americans believe the U.S. economy is already in a recession and most are feeling its impact.
The latest WNBC/Marist College survey finds more than two-thirds, 78-percent, of Americans think the U.S. has fallen on hard financial times, while more than half are concerned theyre not earning enough to cover bills and other expenses.
The leading concern for many is the price at the pump.
More than half, 56-percent, feel the jump in gas prices is putting the greatest strain on their wallets and the unofficial start to the summer driving season will be ushered in by prices exceeding four-dollars-a-gallon.
The poll finds families with a combined income of less than 50-thousand-dollars feel theyll be hit especially hard in a recession.
