President Bush is expected to sign legislation approved by the house this week. Its legislation designating the Pennyrile Parkway and portions of the Western Kentucky Parkway as Interstate 69.
It will open the door for federal funding for upgrades to the Pennyrile from Henderson to the Western Kentucky Parkway and then west to Eddyville.
It is expected to cost about $2 million per mile to bring the highway up to interstate standards.
