Evansvilles mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel has been in political spotlight these days and election night was no different. The mayor had a scheduled appearance on CNNs Larry King Live to discuss Indiana election results. He was supposed to make an appearance on an earlier show but was rescheduled for prime time because of audio issues. Since the beginning though the mayor has been wooed by both democratic presidential candidates. But last month he publicly announced his support for Senator Barack Obama. Weinzapfel says hes had a unique opportunity as the mayor to get to know all of the players and from that got to make a decision on who would do the best job as President. The mayor says the national attention is good news for the local democratic party as well. He says the party now has 45-hundred newly registered democrats.
