The man in charge of a polling place where a FOX 7 camera caught two workers promoting candidates believes the incident is being blown out of proportion. Mike Reid, the inspector at the precinct where the incident happened, wouldnt give us an on-camera interview, but he told us that although he didnt witness the events in question, he says it was just a quick banter between poll workers Kim Minor and Leonard Collins. He also said that it was out of earshot of voters. You see Minor saying, "Its Obamas house". What you dont see is who says, "Its McCains house". Collins isnt taking the blame. Collins says, "I dont even remember saying that. She got into it with some girl saying McCains house. I said you cant be saying this is McCain or Obamas house". Collins should have never been there in the first place because according to election rules, a candidate in a contested race cannot work the polls. Collins was on the ballot as a candidate for delegate to the Republican State Convention. That fact was overlooked and Leon says he was never told otherwise. Party headquarters must find hundreds of volunteers to staff the polls Election Day and the selection process tends to be lenient. Both party chairs agreed the actions of the poll workers most likely didnt affect any voters, but still cant be tolerated inside the polling place.
