A Saline County, Illinois man died in a stripper pit Wednesday night after his boat capsized. The Saline County Sheriffs Office say 21-year old Melvin R. Ellis of Carrier Mills was in a paddle boat when it began to take on water and eventually sank. A passenger on the boat tried to bring Ellis to shore, but was unable to do so. An hour later divers found Ellis body in about 20-feet of water. Ellis was flown by helicopter to St. Marys were he was pronounced dead. The incident is being investigated by the Illinois department of conservation.
