The Hopkins County, Kentucky Health Board will soon vote on a rule banning smoking in most public places and most work places.
The Board took up the issue last year, but it tabled it until members could get an opinion from the state that they had the authority to do so.
The state says they do.
Other Kentucky communities have adopted smoking laws, but there was concern about the Hopkins County proposal because an appointed, not an elected body, will make the decision.
The vote is set for June 10.
