breaking news
The Indiana Department of Transportation will close the east bound lanes of the Lloyd Expressway Wednesday and Thursday night from 7pm to 5pm to accommodate ongoing demolition work of several buildings along the highway. The work is underway to clear space for a Lloyd Expressway overpass spanning Fulton Avenue.
Among the casualties of the wrecking ball: the Orr Iron building. Built in 1912 by the Orr family, parts of the building will be preserved as a monument to the citys industrial past. No time frame is set for demolition of the Orr building yet, but earth moving for the overpass is expected to be underway by mid June.
