A teen who was pulled from the water of a Vanderburgh County private lake after nearly an hour was unresponsive when rescue crews took him to Deaconess Hospital.
Vanderburgh County Sheriffs Deputies said paramedics were trying to resuscitate the 16 year old boy on the shore of the lake before loading him in an ambulance.
Two teen boys were swimming in the private lake near Burdette Park around 7 pm Wednesday evening. They had been jumping off of a bridge, according to a witness, when one teen looked for the other but couldnt see him. A brief search of was unsuccessful, so the boy called 9-1-1.
Dive teams from Marrs and Perry Townships searched the lake for about an hour before locating the boy. He was pulled out around 8:30 pm. The water in the half acre lake is up to 20 feet deep, and though it was about 70 degrees on the surface, investigators estimate it was much cooler below the surface.
