CJ’s Bus Heading to Indianapolis’ East side to care for children affected by tornado Mobile Recreation Unit being deployed to Indianapolis, IN to provide a sense of normalcy, and love for children and families affected by recent tornado. EVANSVILLE, INDIANA– June 5, 2008 – In response to Friday’s tornado on the East side of Indianapolis, IN, a very special bus is being sent to the disaster area to help the families -- and especially the children -- cope with the immediate aftermath of the twister. CJ’s Bus, a mobile recreation unit established by Kathryn Martin in honor of her 2-year-old son C.J. who was lost in the deadly Evansville, Indiana tornado in November 2005, will be arriving on early Friday June 6, 2008 for deployment in that area. The volunteers left at 7 pm tonight from Evansville and should arrive early Friday morning in Indianapolis, IN. CJ’s Bus is working closely with the Indianapolis Chapter of the American Red Cross on this deployment. The bus will be set up at the CAFÉ Community Center, 8902 E 38th Street, adjacent to the Red Cross Shelter. Its hours of operation are from 8am to 5pm, beginning Friday morning until their services are no longer needed. CJ’s Bus is free of charge to the families affected by the severe weather. The bus will offer a full range of activities to keep children distracted in a safe group environment including, drawing, painting, games, and other crafts. CJ’s Bus was made possible through the generous support of the tri-state area. CJ’s Bus would like to thank the Evansville, IN Westside Wal-Mart for supplies needed for this deployment, as well as several other supporters in the tri-state area for their recent contributions that have been a great asset in making this deployment possible. CJ’s Bus will be available to the public between 8:00AM and 5:00PM and will be staffed by Martin, as well as other local certified disaster relief volunteers. This will be Kathryn Martin’s first visit back to the state capital since Governor Mitch Daniels signing of CJ’s Law in July of 2007. CJ’s Law mandates that NOAA weather radios be installed in every manufactured home located in a manufactured home community within the state of Indiana. CJ’s Law, now referred to as CJ’s Home Protection Act, was passed through the US Congress in October 2007 and has now been introduced into the senate.
