A string of petty crimes in Jasper has police raising their eyebrows. Its not items of monetary value thieves are after, rather possessions that hold sentimental value. Now police and residents want it stopped. Meta Neukam’s front yard has been decorated just the way she like it- for the past five years. Recently some cement lawn ornaments were stolen from her property leaving her lawn bare. According to Jasper Police shes not the only victim. Thefts and vandalism is on the rise this summer leaving officers concerned. Police say its most likely kids committing the crimes who may not know the repercussions of their actions. Stealing lawn ornaments can be ruled a class d felony Jasper Police have taken many reports of vandalism to parks in the city, particularly Robert Parker Park. They say vehicles are being keyed, being spray painted and tires being slashed. Jasper Police will accept the return of lawn ornaments for the next two weeks - no questions asked - in an effort to return these items to their rightful owners.
