Smith has resigned from his post as Kentuckys head coach and will take over at the University of Minnesota. Tubby Smith won more than 20 games in each of his ten seasons on the Wildcats bench. But, Smith won only one national championship. That was in his first season back in 1998. However, a lot of UK fans credit that title to Rick Pitino since Pitino recruited the players. Tubby wasnt able to lead the cats back to the final four since that championship season. Smith fell under heavy scrutiny from Kentucky fans over the past two seasons. Kentucky lost in the second-round of the NCAA tournament in 0-6 and 0-7 and lost a combined 25 games. Thats the most ever in a 2 year span at UK.
