The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet kicked off Adopt-a-Highway spring clean week yesterday.

Nearly 12 hundred groups will cleanup more than 85 hundred miles of the roads in the commonwealth this year.
Each year, the Transportation Cabinets highway workers spend about 200 thousand hours removing litter from kentuckys roadways, collecting over 96 thousand bags of litter.
The total yearly cost of litter removal averages 4 to 5 million dollars a year.
