Offenders Give Flood Victims $4,000

Tell City, Ind.—Branchville Correctional Facility offenders are lending a helping hand to devastated Indiana families affected by flooding. Through the Purposeful Living Units Serve (PLUS) program, 108 offenders have raised $4,000 by selling items inside the prison for fundraising. Offenders in PLUS will present the Red Cross a check for $4,000 at Branchville Correctional Facility at 10:30 a.m. The money will go to the Disaster Relief Fund to help Hoosiers affected by flooding. Offenders that volunteer in the 16 month program receive no personal benefit or reduction in sentence time, but instead choose to strengthen their character and faith by helping those in need. While these offenders may be confined and have many restrictions, they are taking advantage of the resources they do have to help others.
