Kentucky lawmakers stayed late Tuesday night to get the last votes in before the midnight deadline for this legislative session.
One of the last issues was Bonis Bill, named after murdered Henderson social worker Boni Frederick.
Senators passed the measure by a 36 to 0 vote.
It aims to increase on-the-job safety for other social workers and establish field offices to be used as meeting places between parents and social workers.
There had been an ongoing struggle among Governor Ernie Fletcher, some state legislators and Bonis daughter to secure adequate funding.
This bill heading to the Governor will actually have $6 million in funds.
