Thats what a lawsuit filed earlier this week in Henderson circuit court claims. Fox 7s spoke with the lawyer representing the estates of two of parkers three sons. Those two sons are Steven Parker and Travis Sanners. They were in the SUV when it plunged into the Ohio river. It happened after a night out at rookies bar and grill in Henderson last April. Now the bar and the engineers who designed the boat ramp are facing a lawsuit. Youre driving in an unfamiliar area. You go straight and suddenly with little warning youre on a steep boat ramp accelerating heading straight for the Ohio river. Would you ask why there was no sign you were on a boat ramp? Thats what Mary Parkers lawyer, Chris Lee, is asking because Parkers sons are dead. Steven Parker and Travis Sanners were two of the six people who died last april when the car they were riding in came down this boat ramp ended up in the river. It ended their lives. A lawsuit filed by the one person who survived the accident and the families of the six people who did not claims the way the Henderson riverfront was built is the reason the six young people died. "Second Street ends where the river is. Theres not a rumble strip, speed bump, sign, gate nothign to warn drivers theyre going to drive into the river," says Lee. Lee says his clients dont only think the engieers of the ramp are responsbile for the deaths. They say Rookies Sports Bar and Grill is too. The night Korena Alvey drove her SUV packed with six other people into the river, they were dancing at Rookies Sports Bar and Grill and Alvey was drinking. "They have a duty not to serve intoxicated individuals and they can cause harm to others." On top of it Lee says toxicology reports on Sanners and Parker show they had trace amounts of alochol if that in their system. He says if you compare the fault of the bar with the designer of the boat ramp to the fault of his clients the answer of whos to blame is obvious. "The driver can share in the fault but that doesnt mean the engineers dont." Lee says the suit is a matter of saving the life of someone else who may misjudge the boat ramp and end up dead in the water like Sanners and Parker. The defendants have 30 days to file a response so no court date has been set yet.
