Diabetes Forever Changes An Evansville Man's Life

By: Nichole Berlie
Updated: April 7, 2007
Multiple amputations have silenced the music of an accomplished Evansville pianist. From as far back as he can remember, music has always been a part of Harold Derringtons life. Harold fell in love with the piano at age three, but all he has left are memories, a few pictures, and a CD of some of his recordings. Harold has diabetes and over the last four years hes lost both legs, his left hand, and two fingers from his right hand to the disease. This self-taught musician says he misses his piano terribly, but hes doing his best to stay positive. In order to help with some of his medical expenses, a fund has been set up for Harold at Integra Bank. Bethel Temple is also selling a CD with some of his recordings. For more information, contact Sherry Wilson at 774-6616.
