UPDATE- The Evansville firefighter arrested for getting illegal prescription drugs has been placed on administrative leave without pay.
Blaire Birge met with the Fire Merit Commission Tuesday afternoon.
He had previously been put on leave with pay.
Prosecutors say Birge visited more than 60 doctors to get more than 100 different prescriptions in a one year period.
The Merit Commission meets again in May to discuss any new circumstances in the case.
Birge is scheduled for drug rehab consideration next week.
